Transcription: ROM stands for read-only memory. ROM contains information built in your computer that never changes. System and adapter ROM is copied to upper or high memory. The most common program stored in ROM is the system BIOS. The BIOS software checks your computer's hardware each time you turn on the machine. BIOS also controls your computer hardware such as video and communications channels. On some machines ROM is replaced with flash ROM. On these machines your BIOS can be updated by running an update.
